Free Document Shredding

If you’re like me, you have a few stacks of documents lying around that need to be disposed of.  On Saturday, you can take them to the NBC4 Safe & Secure Community Shred from 8AM to 11AM at Northern Virginia Community College in Annendale.  They will accept up to five boxes of documents (no CDs or credit cards).  This is a great way to get rid of some unwanted clutter while protecting your identity!

More information and directions can be found here.

The web site FileStoreShred.com maintains a list of free paper shredding and electronics recycling events from coast to coast across the U.S.A. and Canada. By now most people know that one of the basic steps in avoiding identity theft is by shredding your personal papers. Scores of organizations sponsor community shredding services that are FREE to the public. For most people, these events are faster and easier than trying to dispose of this stuff at home. Up until now, it was never this easy to find a shred when you needed one AND it costs you nothing! You owe it to yourself to check this out.

I took your advice George and I went to the website you mentioned above. Unfortunately there is no place in Northern VA I can shred my documents on a regular basis. There is a place in DC, but it is only for DC residents. :-(
