Free Stuff To Do This Weekend in Northern Virginia
Here are a few free things going on this weekend:
The 7th Annual Alexandria Festival of the Arts takes place on Saturday and Sunday in Old Town. The show is set up along King Street and features paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, ceramics, and more, and visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists. It goes from 10AM to 7PM on Saturday and 10AM to 5PM on Sunday.
The 19th Annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival takes place on Saturday at Gateway Park. Performances go from 12:30 to 7PM—you can see the lineup and a list of street vendors here.
Know of other free (or cheap) things going on this weekend? Please share them in the comments.

Hi Stephanie,
This is technically in DC, not Northern VA, but I though I’d let you know about it.
Another event this weekend is the 25th annual Kennedy Center Open House Arts Festival and Multicultural Children’s Book Festival in DC. It goes from 12 pm – 7 pm tomorrow, Sat. 9/12/09 and is free. More information on it is here: http://630wmal.com/Article.asp?id=1472816&spid=32949 and here: http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/festivals/openhouse/
Thanks for your regular posts on the free and cheap weekend events going on in our area!
Assuming it stops raining, there’s a big festival over here in Burke Centre with wine, craft booth, antiques, etc. It’s free to attend, and there is plenty for the kids to do, but there are also paid activities like bounce houses and such.
